HAIKU

autumn sun --
a cat climbing through
the morning |

morning haze --
a ghost cat haunts
the biscuit bowl |

|
even inside,
this autumn rain. . .

inky night --
the cattails dipped
in moon |
|
|
into summer --
a box turtle carries a
painting of autumn |

Chris Eichenberger lives near Melbourne, Australia, with his wife Ayshea and an adopted stray cat. He studies physics and mathematics at Monash University, and also composes freeform electronic music. Eichenberger discovered the joy of haiku in mid-2005, and began writing soon after. Hiking and walking, especially in caves and other rocky places, are some of his other pastimes.
