Richard
Titus writes: “At the time that I studied architecture at Harvard
and MIT there was great enthusiasm for things Japanese. Besides looking
at and reading about Japanese buildings, interiors, and paintings, many
of us read about Zen and tried to understand it. Some years later I
encountered haiku and read many collections and commentaries. This was
followed by my attempts to capture certain experiences in 17 +/- syllables.
Boxes were filled with 3 x 5 cards. Lately I've been trying to find
the wheat, if any, while continuing to add to the chaff."
