*Shinyo, a young
boy, quietly helped Midori who wears those wooden geta with cloth-cords
on her barefeet, in Takekurabe, a famous first love story by Higuchi
Ichiyo.
**The phrase "RC Cola and a MoonPie®" was well known around the South
(USA) in the mid-20th Century. According to The History of the Great American
MoonPie (http://www.moonpie.com/hist_text.asp),this
popular confection was developed by the Chattanooga Bakery in Tennessee in
1917, when one of their salesmen, Earl Mitchell, Sr., asked a group of miners
who frequented a General Store he serviced, what they would like for a snack.
The reply was a dessert, 'about this big,' said one of the miners, as he
cupped his hands to frame the rising full moon. |
