Kuniharu Shimizu

Born in Tenri, Nara, Japan (1949). Moved to Hawaii at age 15. BFA from University of Hawaii. A painting won a purchase award at Artists of Hawaii Exhibition, and became a part of the permanent collection at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Returned to Japan in 1972.

Design awards:
Ichiretu-kai Scholarship Foundation Logo Mark contest, 1st. place.
Japan Toy Accociation Logo Mark contest, 1st. place.

Became an ordained minister of Tenrikyo Church in 1978. Presently, the vice president of Doyusha, a section of Tenrikyo HQs that handles publication and broadcasting, and is the chief of Tenrikyo Internet Committee.

Family: wife and two grown-up children.

His haiku are published in the following publications: Heron's Nest, Asahi Haikuist Network, Mainichi Daily News, and Haiga Online. His haiku and haiga have appeared and been reviewed in many publications and books, and on websites in Japan, USA, and Slovenia.
