H. Gene Murtha is a naturalist and poet, who lives with his wife Linda and son Derek, in the pinelands of southern New Jersey. Besides being published in Japan, Australia, USA, and on the Web, he enjoys giving readings. His memberships include: Pennsylvania Poetry Society, Mad Poets Society, The Haiku Society of America, and the Nick Virgilio Haiku Association.

Adelaide B. Shaw, in addition to haiku, writes adult short fiction, and children's poems. She has been writing haiku for 30 years and has been published in haiku journals, both in print and on the Web, in the United States and abroad. She has been married for 42 years and has three children and six grandchildren.

forsythia buds
it arrives regardless
this spring

ropes slap the asphalt
double-dutch in the alley

snow covered meadow
filigree shadows
in the woods

the rifle's bolt
lock and load

on the trail
cleaning out bird boxes
a last year's egg

after the move
remembering what I forgot

spring twilight
bats zigzag
through the forest

sudden chill
shortcutting our walk
